We were delighted to see so many representatives from the construction industry attending our launch event at the House of Lords on 15 September 2016.
The event was hosted by Career Colleges founder, Lord Baker and attended by representatives from over 30 construction businesses. The project is being spearheaded by Grant Findlay of Sir Robert McAlpine and the Career Colleges Trust, working with a range of educational partners from across the region.
This collaborative venture will be led by employers to develop highly relevant, quality-assured training. Programmes will be tailored to address clearly-identified skill shortages within the London-based construction industry. The focus for trainees will be on key construction trades, which have a huge demand for skilled workers including (but not limited to): Structural Frame and Building Envelope, Carpentry (industrial-scale), Green Technologies, Building Control Systems and Temporary Works.
We were delighted with the support offered by businesses to the new project. Pledges ranged from offers of work placements and equipment, through to agreements to become Board Directors of the pioneering Career College.
